Do I have a chance of going to oxford

gcse grades 99999888766555
predicted grades A*A*A* maths fm phys and A in AS CS
did gcse maths a year early as well as as maths and got 9 and A
gold smc x 3
ai olympiad silver
KCLMS student
applying to maths+cs
been to lectures, participated in many competitions and recieved a lot of awards
I think you have as good a chance as anyone else. Just make sure to write about your various "supercurricular" activities in depth and analytically rather than just listing a bunch of things with only superficial remarks. Remember it's about quality, not quantity.

Is this your new schtick? Now that you've been warned off the Incel sleaze, you're trying to spread alarm and despondency amongst Oxford applicants? Let me remind you that the key difference between the OP and you is that the OP has actually made an application to Oxford, something that you have not done and which only you believe that you will ever do. You are in no position to cast any doubt on the OP's application.

OP, please ignore Walter Mitty/Jude the Obscure. Your application will be looked at in the round. As you know, success can't be guaranteed, but you are at least in with a shout. Good luck!

A 5 in GCSE English Lanugage would be deemed insufficent surely?

You promised that you would focus on YOUR studies (studies which are likely as as fictional as most everything you write). But here you are firing off questions at Oxford applicants, apparently seeking to throw shade or undermine their confidence in some way.

For the 999999th time, you are not an authority on Oxford admissions. Whatever type of a projection or coping strategy your endless questions to applicants might form, they are of no interest to anyone save you (and the psychiatrist whom you don't have but badly need).

Never you mind what GCSEs grades applicants to Oxford have. You are not an applicant to Oxford. You have been on this forum for a QUARTER OF A CENTURY, and threatening to apply to a university for the last several years or decades. You have applied to no university. The date of your proposed application slips back and back. It's currently pegged at 2028, and a year from now it will be 2029 or 2030.

Prove your doubters wrong. Go away, do some actual studying, and come back when you have passed some A levels and applied to at least one university. If you take my advice (which you won't), that university won't be Oxford. The evidence of your own posts suggests that Bedfordshire is more your level.

Maybe I'm wrong. But please don't respond with yet another declaration that you will certainly get 97 A stars, and so on. Nobody wants to see yet another long list of all the qualifications you will (never) obtain and all the start up businesses you will (never) set up. Nobody wants to hear about the colleges you will (never) found or the supermodels you will (never) go on dates with.

We're bored of you. You're boring. You should be bored of yourself. Change your life. Stop bothering people who are going through the real life stress of the Oxford admission process. Wish them luck. They have taken a step that you can only dream of taking.

OP, good luck!

Subject-specific GCSE grades do not matter as long as you meet minimum requirements

But what I will say is that, while admissions criteria vary between courses, Oxford have a general way of shortlisting applicants for interview. This is typically through evaluating your GCSEs and your MAT score. If these two are both good, you are basically guaranteed an interview (see here). You are at a disadvantage at your percentage of 9/8s at GCSE, so you will want a good MAT score to compensate for that.

There is very little weight put on your personal statement (some courses like Physics outright state that they do not consider your PS on its own) and so your olys/awards will not matter that much to them, if at all. Focus on the MAT for now.

You're trying to deviate from the topic of the OPs post. I only stated a 5 in English Lanugage would be a problem perhaps? Since most top departments use GCSE grades to differentiate between applicants.

I am no longer making the threads about myself. That's an inherent quality in you Stiffy!!! You always lead me to post more and more and it esclates!!! ☹️

To be fair, it does matter what subjects the 5s are in. If you are applying to Maths and CS with a 5 in Physics that is potentially an issue- if the 5 is in Textiles they probably won’t care. I am assuming that the 6s and 5s are not in the subjects you are taking for A level or in ones relative to the course.

It also matters how your GCSEs are relative to your school cohort. If you are at an academically super-selective school where half the cohort gets straight 9s, getting a mixed bag will be viewed differently to if you took GCSEs at an average comprehensive where only half the year obtain passes at English and Maths and you are one of the top performers.

Keep your promise. Stop posting garbage. Stop pretending to be an expert on things of which you have no direct experience. Stop copying and pasting stuff. Focus on your own studies, not on anyone else's studies, and come back when you have achieved something. Unless you can recognise that you are at present stuck in a rut of your own making, you will never achieve anything and will carry on being the lonely old fantasist that you currently are. Stop talking and start doing.

I have 6s and 5s in English language and the sciences, and have an interview at Oxford; I’d be quiet

Considering how many people in KCLMS get into Oxbridge, you might as well just compare yourself to the rest of your cohort and figure out your chances that way. Unless the 5s are in important subjects, and I'm guessing they're not given how many gcses you did (for some reason). You haven't mentioned anything else which might be off-putting.

My only concern is it's VERY early to predict A level grades or are these your targets? If you are in Year 12 you've covered very little A* material as yet. Schools rarely give any formal prediction before Easter of Year 12 as this is when Oxbridge prep typically starts.

I hope that the interviews go well. Try to be yourself. The Dons know that you're nervous. Best wishes!
