Heyy @bulky-vestibule,

Thats awesome to hear that you’re considering Lancaster as an option!

Student Experience and Course Structure:
One thing I’d recommend is checking out our Unibuddy platform, which allows you to chat directly with current Business Economics students. It’s a great way to get an authentic insight into the course, workload, teaching style, and overall student experience, as you’re hearing directly from people who are actually studying the degree.

You might also want to look into whether other universities e.g., Birmingham might have a similar chat scheme. This can be a useful way to compare the universities and get a feel for the student experience. It’s also worth looking into differences in course structure and content between programs, as these can vary quite a bit. Doing this research will help you make a more informed decision before choosing where to apply.

High Ranking and Research Led:
Lancaster University is very highly ranked for Economics:

8th for Graduate Prospects The Guardian University Guide (2026)

13th for Economics The Guardian University Guide (2026)

16th for Economics The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide (2026)

Because Lancaster is highly research-focused, our lecturers are actively engaged in current research and are specialists in their fields. This is reflected in lectures and seminars, where they frequently reference their own work, such as books, papers, or ongoing research projects.

Furthermore, Lancaster University is smaller than Birmingham, which could mean smaller seminar groups and more personalised support from lecturers, making it easier to get help and guidance throughout your degree.

While I haven’t gone into much depth about the university itself and this has been very much degree focused, hopefully it’s been helpful. Any questions do feel free to reach out~

Hi @bulky-vestibule,

Business Economics at Exeter is a really strong choice academically. The University of Exeter consistently ranks highly in UK league tables, and its Business School is one of the best in the country. The Business School has triple accreditation, which is a big deal internationally and really reflects the quality of teaching and the global recognition of your degree.

The course itself mixes core economics theory with business-focused modules, so you get a balance of analytical skills and practical business knowledge. Teaching is a mix of lectures, seminars, and workshops, with plenty of opportunities to work on projects, case studies, and even networking events with firms. That means you’re not just learning theory - you’re also building skills and experience that employers actually look for.

Student life is also a big plus. Streatham campus is compact, friendly, and easy to navigate. There are loads of societies, sports clubs, and events, so it’s easy to meet people and get involved. Social life is lively but balanced, with spaces for both study and fun. Exeter also has a really international student community, which makes the campus diverse and welcoming. I would recommend coming to see it during one of our open days: https://www.exeter.ac.uk/open-days/undergraduate/

Overall, Exeter combines a strong academic reputation, a top-quality Business School, and a vibrant, supportive student experience - it’s a really solid choice if you’re looking for both career prospects and a great university life.

Hope this helps 🙂

Our Business School has state-of-the-art facilities such as study pods, a cafe and a Bloomberg lab that mimics a real trading room floor as though you were on Wall Street yourself.
