Hey i don't think so you could use those notes but don't memorise it for word to word.you could get some ideas from the notes and use it in ur own answers.

Heya,

So no, not really, memorising information from notes/ lecture slides and writing it in an exam is not plagiarism, as long as you're not copying someone else’s unique wording or ideas that aren’t part of the taught material.

The only time it might become an issue is if:

1.

You memorise another student’s unique notes/ explenations and write it in their exact words.

2.

You memorise large chunks of text from a source and reproduce it exactly according to the source (word for word), especially if it’s distinctive wording/ writing.

3.

The exam specifically requires original analysis, not memorised content.

Generally, learning material and recalling it in an exam is not plagiarism, it’s how exams usually work. I hope this helped, and good luck on your exam!

Hi @Bird1234

I hope you are well! No, memorising notes and using it as part of your exam will not count as plagiarism. You can use the lecture slides or notes as a way of good revision. Going over notes and lectures means you can make your own personalised notes aswell to use for the exam!

When you are sat in the exam also the chances of remembering the notes word for word is quite slim so in reality you will most likely end up putting it into your own words! I wouldn't worry about plagiarism in this context.

I hope this response has helped, let me know I you have any other questions, I am more than happy to help!

Thanks, Matt 🙂
