Exeter offer holder

Hi guys I received offers for business analytics at Bristol , Exeter (year abroad ) , and Qmul (year abroad ),birbeck and still waiting for KCL .

I’m thinking of firming Exeter because I really want to go abroad but I’m poc woman and I haven’t heard good stuff about their diversity. Could tell me their experiences at Exeter or any info about my other options.

Exeter is fine - they have an INTO centre and much of what you've read is illl informed. Why not talk to a current student and look at all the societies?

Hi anonymous,

From an Exeter ambassador perspective, your choices look completely realistic - especially with contextual factors. Exeter does consider AAB/ABB applicants for Business when there’s contextual eligibility, so you’re not aiming too high at all.

If you're wondering about the environment here, Exeter is genuinely one of the most international universities in the UK. The student community is really mixed, and there’s a big range of cultural and international societies, support networks, and events that make it easy to settle in and meet people from all sorts of backgrounds. It’s a very friendly, campus-based place, so you naturally get to know people quickly. The student population at the Streatham campus is very big so you will have many many opportunities to make friends (halls, lectures and societies), everyone during first year will be in the same position as you so they will be very friendly and welcoming - I am sure you'd have no issues finding friends!

For business analytics specifically, the student experience is strong - with one of the best business schools in the country you get amazing opportunities from the school as well as the societies. So your education is in safe hands!

I would recommend coming to visit us, that way you can get a feel for the university first hand: https://www.exeter.ac.uk/open-days/undergraduate/

Hope this helps 🙂

hi, i went to the university of exeter & graduated in 2024 and i am a poc myself. i was nervous because of the same reasons you are, especially as im from london & london is very diverse. i personally didnt face any issues with race & stuff and the people there are actually very nice. you’ll meet your one off people who say things that make you feel uncomfortable. but i found it pretty alright.

there’s an acs society, it’s not that big so i didn’t see the point in joining. most people are from private schools and boarding schools, so you know you’ll get the “i spend daddies money” people.

but if you’re biggest concern is racism and making friends & finding poc stores. there’s actually quite a couple of poc stores up the city centre & i didn’t face any racism (people would stare at me a lot tho, but i got used to it). there was that whole issue with a racist group chat though but i don’t know the details of that. & making friends is pretty easy, you get to meet the people on your course a week before lectures start & the people you share an accom with will probably be nice too. i’m still friends with people i met at exeter so… you’ll be fine if you pick it.
