As level music?

Hi everyone,

I've still got over a year and a half before I pick a levels but I would really like to go into climate science when I'm older. Would AS level music be okay if I also took:
- Geography
- Chemistry
- Biology / maths (I'm not sure which ones better to take?)

Thanks

That will be fine. Please don't worry too much about A level choices. Your future career will not be determined by your A levels. You need only three A levels. Maths may edge out biology if you are thinking of a climate science career. It is a good thing for a scientist (and indeed anyone else) to maintain an interest in the arts.

Your ideas, interests, and aspirations may change an develop several times between now and A levels and university, so please keep your options open, and discuss your plans with your teachers and your family.

Good luck! Please save the planet!

Hi @Alice-lll,

Those AS-Levels look perfect for a career in climate science. If in doubt, you can always check the entry requirements for a few different universities to see which A-Level subjects are typically required for climate-related courses - for example, Climate Science at Durham and Climate Science at the University of Liverpool both require two sciences at A-Level (accepted sciences include Geography and Maths as well as Bio/Chem).

If you're passionate about music, AS-Level Music might provide a break from the more content-heavy nature of your other subjects. I studied Art and A-Level and was always glad to have subject which was a bit more hands-on and involved than just sitting in a classroom all day.

Hope this helps and best of luck with your choices! 🙂
