Word count policy for BA History in Durham University

Hello, I have a question regarding the word count policy for BA History in Durham University.

Currently, I have a trouble for reach as much as possible to near maximum word counts of 3000 for my summative essay.

Therefore, I would like to know that do 2000 to 2200 words enough word counts for 3000-word essay?

Hey! I didn’t study History (I did MLAC) so do check specifically with your department however I would say that you might want to aim to increase it to closer to 2,700 as a minimum (5-10% below), if the limit is 3,000. If 3,000 is recommended then it also usually means that being significantly under that can make it harder to show depth in your analysis. I hope this helps.
