MMU or OB for fine art

I’m currently choosing my insurance uni for a fine art course and I’m not sure which to pick. I have one spot left and the other 4 I defiantly want to apply for so I can only pick one. For me I’ve heard good things at MMU for the fine art course alongside it being in a quite artistic city however Oxford has always been my home with my family all here and my heart towards the city. But I’m not sure how good the fine art course is. Was wondering if anyone experienced either course in these places and could offer some insight.

I’m even wondering do I just take an extra gap year to apply to Oxford uni as I missed the deadline this year from circumstances, as that has always been one of my dream unis alongside Edinburgh which I’m applying to.

Hi @Cluckycharms

Deciding which universities to apply to is a huge decision and we're very happy that you are considering Manchester Met!

If you have not already, it's worth having a look at the Manchester School of Art's course webpage: BA (Hons) Fine Art. There's info about the course content, entry requirements, portfolio guidance as well as academic contact details if you wanted to get in touch.

You can chat with our current students on our Ambassador Chat Platform and whilst there are no Fine Art students on there, you will be able to find out from them what it's like to study at Manchester Met and be a student in this great city, whether you want to chat with them directly or take a look at the digital content they have created. You can chat here.

If you decide to apply to Man Met and receive an offer, you'll be invited to one of our Applicant Visit Days in the Spring term, where you'll be able to meet the art academics, attend a taster sessions and tour the facilities, as well as the whole campus. It's really worth booking onto one of these as many find it helpful in making their decision about their firm and insurance choices. You'll get a feel for the course and our campus, and whether it's right for you.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with our Course Enquiries team at [email protected] or 0161 247 6969. They also have Live Chat, available here.

I hope this helps.
Mel 😊
