Group interviews at Manchester met

Hi!
Has anyone had a group interview for Manchester met or any other uni? I want to prepare myself and can’t find any details. I’m applying for MSc speech and language therapy, any help or advice would be appreciated!

Hi @lili.matt881

Congratulations on your interview invite!

There is some interview advice on TSR that's worth referring to here: The Student Room: Interviews and I've given some interview prep advice that came from one of our current students. Hopefully this helps...

"Firstly, practice talking about loud to yourself or someone else. I found the pressure of talking out loud and trying to form answers on the spot is quite difficult, so saying some practice answers out loud is worth a try!

Secondly, make sure you can answer the simplest question of why you want to do the subject? Why SLT? Why are you passionate about this course? This will give a strong foundation to your interview and always showing a passion for the subject is something an interviewer will look for.

Thirdly, I found researching what the NHS says about SLT and how it helps people is a brilliant source to help build the answers to your interview questions. Furthermore, research what Man Met says about your course. What modules does it include? Which will be hardest for you and which might be easy?

Fourthly, remind yourself of why you deserve to be on the course. An interview is all about telling the interviewer why they want you - specifically you on their course so don’t hold back! Before the interview write out what skills you think an SLT should have, why they should have these skills and what experience or understanding you have that shows you also have this skill. Post- it notes around your computer and desk so you can read them regularly are helpful so when you’re asked about it in the interview your answer will likely be fluent and detailed.

Finally, keep calm. The interview is an opportunity to show how awesome you are and why we want you at Man Met. Relax, talk slowly and don’t be afraid to ask them to repeat a question."

I hope this helps and good luck!
