hii, i would recommend visiting an open day/ lecture, and on the website, they’ll probably have a tool where you can talk to students studying the course, so you can realistically ask what’s on the course and what the job prospects look like, etc.
Hi,

That's great you've decided on the civil/ construction industry!

With regards to deciding between the courses, I would recommend looking at the sorts of modules each course covers. For example, civil engineering can be a great option if you want to cover a broad variety of topics - from design to sustainability, engineering management and lots of other areas. Civil engineering courses generally teach students a variety of topics in the first two years, followed by optional modules to specialise into whichever area you enjoy. Even if you are not considering Southampton university, it's worth having a look at the optional modules to get an idea of the things you'd be doing.

It is also worth looking at which courses are accredited as this is an important aspect of future career progression. You'll want to look for a course that is ideally accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). Take a look at this link below if you want a better explanation of why an accredited course is important.

I hope this helps a little with your decision - please let me know if there's anything else I can help with.
