What to do with my options to get into a good university

Hi, I'm currently in year 12 and doing Physics, Chemistry and Maths for A level. My CV is looking quite bare at the moment so I'm looking for any super curriculars or extra curriculars that universities love (related to physics or chemistry).
If you guys also have any tips for getting A* it would be much appreciated.

I also have no idea what career to go into with my options

Universities don't 'love' anything in particular, they like to see you do things outside of school that demonstrate that you are passionate and willing to learn about a subject in your free time. Winning a debate championship means nothing if you are writing a personal statement for chemistry, for example.

Decide what you want to pursue first, then go looking for supercurriculars. Your options are pretty vast, so choose something you think you'd enjoy. Go on university pages, look at the course modules that they take, and decide if you would like to pursue this for the next 3 years.

For chem, bash out the PPQs and learn terms with flashcards.
Organic is a pain but just do blurting and allery chemistry vids work best then again PPQs.

Also in terms of career paths have a look at natural sciences

Hi,

You could consider completing masterclasses and Olympiads in your science subjects, these are great to discuss in your personal statement. For achieving top grades, I’d recommend using subject specifications, making active recall resources such as flashcards and mind maps, completing topic-by-topic questions, and then moving on to full past papers.

Hope this helps,

Have a look on sites like unifrog and career pilot, see what kind of sectors stand out to you. Also look at some virtual work experience on sites like Springpod and the forage to see what you enjoy doing 🙂
