How important are gcse grades for university applications?

Im at 7s in most things, enough to get onto a level courses but is it okay for universities?

Perfectly fine, only a slight disadvantage if you are applying to the top universities e.g. Oxbridge, Imperial
As above, for most unis they don't make any difference so long as you meet any minimum requirements.

Hi @magnamacbi

It may depend on what course you are applying for, however a lot of courses do not have GCSE requirements as they are more focused on level 3 qualifications (e.g., A-Levels). I would recommend looking on UCAS or the university's website to double check the entry requirements for your specific courses. It is also important to remember that getting 7s is a really good achievement!

Hope this helps.

Hi there! I'm Aura, a rep from the University of Staffordshire studying Computer Science. From my personal experience during my applications, I rarely had a need to state my GCSE grades when it came to my UCAS applications for all my options. I achieved an A*AA for a-levels and most of the applications simply asked for UCAS points which you can find using the UCAS calculator. UCAS Calculator.

If you are applying for a University that has entrance interviews, the question could come up so never discount it. During applications for placements and internships, some companies may ask for this though.

Hope that helps,
Aura (Uni of Staffs Rep)
