Hello!
Congratulations on your offer 🤩 They're both really strong offers - but if you’re even slightly leaning towards Economics, York is honestly a great place to do it. The course is well taught, the lecturers are extremely approachable, and there’s a nice balance between the maths side and applied modules. York’s Econ degree is also more quantitative and analytical than most Business/Management courses, which employers in finance, consulting, policy, data and tech tend to value a lot. You can also do a year in industry or year abroad, which is a brilliant way to add experience on top of strong teaching - the department consistently scores highly for student satisfaction.
The overall environment at York is one of the nicest things about being here. It’s academically solid but not intense or competitive, and people are genuinely supportive. It makes settling in (and actually enjoying your degree!) so much easier.
On the DiscoverUni salary stats - they don’t always compare like for like. B&M and Econ grads often take very different early career routes, so the numbers naturally diverge. York Econ grads still go on to great opportunities in finance, data, the civil service, consulting and policy roles.
If you like the idea of a proper Economics degree, gold standard teaching, a friendly vibe, and a vibrant campus that’s filled with community, York is a really strong choice - and so many students are genuinely happy they picked it.
Best of luck with your decision! 💫
