Imperial chemistry
Hi I am thinking of starting imperial chemistry in September 2026 but am nervous about the social life there. I have heard it is very difficult to find a community of friends and have a work/life balance. Is this truer do people exaggerate the mental health problems of imperial students? Any insight is appreciated thanks!

A friend of mine is studying CS at imperial, and from what he's said, the workload seems to be very large, though im not sure about the chemistry course. he struggled to make friends initially, but given time he found a little group. i think it depends on the individual- A lot of the imperial students are bound to be pretty academically focused, so i suppose if you are too then you might find it easier to socialise than if you are a more socially outgoing person?
