Trying to move from BTEC to A-levels.

In secondary school, I passed 5 GCSES which I didn't think would actually happen. I'm currently in college doing a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science and I really hate it. I loved science a lot in secondary school but in BTEC I really despise it. I had low grades due to mental health issues and things going on at home. I have a mentor who can reference for me but I don't know if I can do A-levels due to my grades, I mainly got 4's and 2 5's. I've looked at apprenticeships and T-levels also and honestly it isn't for me. I cannot do coursework at all. Nevertheless, I am grateful for the opportunity given to me but I am also struggling with my mental health again and with things at home again. I have now missed 2 assignments and my attendance lies on 60% because I can't bring myself to college. I love exam-based things as thats the way it was taught to me and I dread college every single day. I want to enrol for A-levels in September 2026 but I don't know if I can. I cannot retake any subjects because I come from a low-income family and it's too expensive for us.

Are there any alternative routes? What could I do to help myself into getting into A-levels?

Maybe start to look at some past papers and A-Level revision material on PMT or other websites. What would also be good is to hear other college students talk about these A-Levels and their experiences studying them— maybe you can attend another open event that is local? It doesn’t have to be a college of interest but talking to students and teachers in person can honestly help loads! Also maybe you could make a secure revision timetable to help you prepare for the workload brought by A-Levels?
I wish you best of luck with whatever option you choose and hope this helps!!
