how strict are the entry requirements for masters?

Im looking to apply to do my masters, however because of personal issues my first 2 years in uni wasnt amazing. I kinda picked up my grades in my last year but im still looking at a 2.2 atm. Is it worth still applying to masters with 2.1 enrty requirments? I have alot of experience in the health care field, worked with elderly, young kids, and people with different learning disabilties, behavioural etc.
Any advice?
and do they offer clearance for post gard?
If I were you I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket. By all means apply for some master's courses that have a 2:1 entry requirement, but also apply to some that will accept a 2:2

Hi there, if you are currently achieving a 2.2 and are worried about applying for Master’s programmes that list a 2.1 entry requirement, it is still absolutely worth applying, especially at London South Bank University, where we review applications holistically. We understand that personal circumstances can impact academic performance, and your strong final-year improvement, along with extensive professional experience in the health and social care sector, will certainly strengthen your application.

If you are considering postgraduate study in a field such as Children’s Nursing, LSBU offers the Children’s Nursing PgDip / MSc, and applicants are assessed individually. In most cases, you will need a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 2:2 classification, so your predicted result would meet the standard entry requirement. Before applying, you must also ensure that you hold GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2 qualifications) at grade C or above, as required by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). These qualifications must be in place before submission.

For your interview, you will need to bring a form of photo ID as well as your UCAS Personal ID number. If you hold international qualifications, you may be asked to obtain an ENIC statement to confirm equivalency. Since this process can take several weeks, we strongly recommend beginning it early if applicable.

Regarding additional checks, LSBU does require enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance and occupational health checks for postgraduate nursing programmes. These are mandatory for all applicants once an offer has been made and are arranged as part of the admissions process.

Given your professional background and demonstrated commitment to healthcare, you are very much encouraged to apply. Admissions tutors will take your experience and personal circumstances into account, and many applicants with similar academic journeys go on to successful postgraduate study and careers in nursing. If you need guidance at any stage, we are always happy to help.

Do you have referees who'd be able to attest to your personal issues and that your grades the first two years aren't representative of your (cap)ability? For me, that was what made the difference (I got a 2.2 at undergrad but applied for places that required a 2.1 minimum and was accepted as a self-funded student).

If you have specific unis/courses in mind, it'd be worth reaching out to them in advance to 'sound them out' on this issue, so to speak

To my knowledge, there's no such thing as Clearing for postgrad courses :nah:
