KCL Economics - Worried about Investment Banking opportunities

Hi everyone! I recently received an offer from KCL for the Mathematics Foundation Programme (I’m international), with progression to Economics, and I’m planning to firm it. I’m aiming for a career in investment banking, and I’m also really interested in private equity and hedge funds.

For anyone familiar with KCL and finance recruitment:
How competitive is IB recruiting for KCL students?
What are the typical placement or internship opportunities like?
How do major banks and finance employers view KCL?
Is it realistic to break into IB/PE/HF from KCL, and what should I focus on early on?

Thank you!

Not a KCL student but have a general idea of how recruiting is.

IB recruiting is competitive everywhere. You're in London which is nice, but you're not in a target school.

Not entirely sure on domestic reputation, but banks care about prestige, and if you're at a target school or not (Oxbridge, LSE, Imperial, UCL, Warwick).

Not easy to break into, but absolutely possible. Focus on buffing up your CV to get past the screening rounds and into an interview. Then, focus on interview technicals, and make sure you have an answer for every possible question they could ask. Also be sure to leave a good impression, come off as friendly and willing to learn.
