Talkng 2 gap years

I’m resitting year 12 next year but I may also want to take a gap year when I finish year 13 before uni. Is this weird because then I’ll be starting uni at 20?

Not really. Lots of people start university aged 20+.

Hi there,

I wouldn't say it's weird at all. There are so many people who take gap years, start uni a year or two later and some just choose to work, save up and then return to study at uni. There are others who do foundation years and so on, so I definitely wouldn't let starting university aged 20 put you off. For example, I did a foundation course before starting university aged 19 and after a few months turned 20. I also did a placement year so by the time I graduated I was 23. There is a mix of ages in most uni courses now so you will be with some younger and older students anyway.

Hope this helps,
^Zac

Hi,

Definitely not weird! Just wanted to share my situation so you can see how common it is.

Similar to Zac I started uni at 19 and turned 20 a few months in. I am also currently on placement year and so will graduate when I am 23 and will turn 24 a few months later.

Enjoy your gap year and go for it! I honestly don't notice other people being different ages, especially with it only being a couple years difference.

I hope this helps and good luck
