Oxford Fine Art Interview thoughts?

Hey so I had my Ruskin interview yesterday. I came out of it thinking it went really well but the more I think about it the more I realise I could've said more or been more critical about my work. Then today, I get an email saying I am not required for a further interview. Yes, second interviews are the minority, but it still felt a bit discouraging.

How did other people feel their Fine Art interviews went? How much of it was you talking vs being asked questions? Did you get opportunity to drop in many practitioners?

Other subjects feel free to discuss how yours went as well, especially regarding the ratio of you talking vs the interviewers.

Good luck to anyone who is still yet to do theirs too

Hi! You’re the first other fine-art-er I’ve seen on here this year. I also just had my interview, also just got the “no further interviews” email. Also felt like it went well and then overthought it to hell and back 🙏

I think the talking:answering ratio was pretty strongly leaning toward the answering for me, but I tend to ramble a bit (especially when nervous). I felt like I got asked hundreds of questions in such a short space of time, but really the interviewers were just getting me to elaborate on my answers. I also wasn’t expecting to be quizzed solely on my own work, I was convinced I’d be asked about reading and artists and other things in my PS, but nope! Still felt like it went well even thought I didn’t feel “pushed” the way other Oxbridge interviewees say you’re meant to. That’s making up a large part of my overthinking 😭

Anyway, guess it’s a waiting game now. Much luck with your application!
