Have you looked at the course descriptions at each university, and looked to see whether the available modules fit with your interests?

Have you visited the universities to see whether you like the environment? You're going to be living and studying there for three years. Have you been to an open day?

If you're invited to a post-offer visit day, it would be worth attending.

Hi Burcup, 👋

They are both great options and I'm sure you would be happy at either.

It ultimately comes down to whichever feels best for you. If you haven't already, I would say go to offer-holder open days for both so you can get the feel for each campus and the cities themselves. When I came to the Sheffield open day, as much as I loved the campus and the buildings, it was the welcoming, friendly feel of the city that helped me make my decision. 😀

Equally, you should compare both courses and what modules they have and see which appeal to you most. I can't speak for the other option, but the course at Sheffield is accredited by the Institute of Physics for meeting the requirements for a Chartered Physicist. You also get the option to do a full year on a work placement. Sheffield students have secured placements with a range of organisations, including CERN, Jaguar Land Rover, Sellafield, EDF Energy and the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes.

You also get a choice of optional modules so you can tailor the degree to your interests.

I hope this helps, but please let me know if you have anymore questions about Sheffield and I would be more than happy to help.

All best wishes,
Phoebe
