5th Choice

What do I add as my 5th choice? These are my current 4 as of now:
Oxford (Worcester) Maths and CS - Rejected
Imperial Maths and CS - Waiting
Edinburgh CS and Maths - Unconditional offer
St Andrews CS and Maths - Waiting

St Andrews will be unconditional if offered recieved, and Imperial will be conditional (Scottish Student).
Probably got rejected from Oxford because I bombed the MAT on the day, but I’m preparing for TMUA in January.
Achieved 5As at Higher with predicted 4As at Adv Higher in Maths, Mechanics, Physics, Computing.

These were 2 options I was thinking of:
LSE Maths with Data Science (or similar)
UCL Maths and CS
UCL Maths
However TARA is required for UCL Maths and CS which may be an issue.

What do I add for a 5th option, one of these or a different one (I know people will say Warwick but I don’t want to live in Cov if I’m being honest).

Hi there,

Warwick does get suggested a lot for Maths/CS because of the course strength, but your reason for hesitating is totally valid. That said, it might help to know that studying at Warwick doesn’t actually mean living in Coventry unless you choose to.

In first year, almost all students live on campus, which is located outside Coventry and genuinely feels like its own self-contained student community. Everything you need is right there: shops, cafés, restaurants, the Sports & Wellness Hub, health centre, Arts Centre, accommodation, and plenty of green space. This means there’s rarely any need to go into Coventry unless you want to.

In later years, you can either:

stay on campus, or

move off-campus to nearby areas. While Coventry is one option, most students choose Leamington Spa, Canley, or Kenilworth, which are often considered much nicer and have vibrant student communities.

So if Coventry itself is the only reason you’re ruling out Warwick, it’s very possible to have a great experience at the university while rarely, if ever, needing to spend time in Coventry.

Of course, you should pick the 5th choice that best fits what you want academically and personally, but I just wanted to reassure you that the location concern may not be as limiting as it seems.

Best wishes,
Joseph
