AI

I get Grammarly through the DSA, and I put my work through an AI and plagiarism checker in that app. My essay came up as 8% AI, but I literally haven't used any AI tools. Has anyone been caught out on this? Will I be fine, or should I try and change the wording?

Hi @beefreya

I hope you are well! If you haven't used any AI at all within your essay then I wouldn't worry too much about getting into trouble for it! Some universites and assignments have a bit of an allowance on AI usage and state that as long as it is below a certain percentage then it you will be fine. It might be worth checking if your university and assignment has this allowance as it would definitely ease you and reassure you that it will be ok! However, I don't think all universities have the allowance.

Sometimes AI scanners pick up on random things and you cant help it from flagging something up and seeing as you are saying that you haven't used any AI at all then I am sure you will be absolutely fine!

Let me know if you have any other questions, I am more than happy to help!

Thanks, Matt 🙂

Hi!

This may be because grammarly is AI powered, so naturally, it may be more likely to pick up on AI. I use grammarly premium too (also supplied by the DSA), and I haven't yet had any issues with it flagging AI detectors when submitting assignments.

If you're worried about this though, you can use google docs or microsoft word to write any assignments, as they can provide a detailed, time stamped account of any edits that were made. I believe this can be done in grammarly too! Furthermore, if any issues do arise, I would just be open and honest about your use of grammarly, especially since it was provided as an accessibility tool. It may also be worth just proof-reading your work, as grammarly's suggestions don't always read clearly or make complete sense, this may make it more likely to flag as AI too!

I hope this helps
