What are the vibes like at Uni of Manchester?

I know the uni has very high quality education, but I'm more concerned about what the people are like. Is it at all snobby? are the people friendly? I have received an offer from Uni of Manchester and Manchester Met, and of course UoM is better in terms of education, but I don't want to spend 3 years there if the people aren't who I'd mesh with. If anyone can tell me anything about the atmosphere of the Uni, the sorts of people, etc, I'd be very grateful.

Thank you!

Hi,

Congratulations on your offers. As an offer holder at Manchester Met, you will be invited to an Applicant Visit Day in the Spring term. These take a similar format to the open day... you'll be able to chat with the academics for your course, attend a taster session, tour the campus and accommodation and visit the Student Life Fair. I'm sure UoM will have something similar. Our Applicant Visit Day invites are usually sent out from the New Year. Definitely worth booking onto one of these as they really help you to get a feel for the campus and whether it's a good fit for you.

You can also chat with one of our current students on our Ambassador Chat Platform, as well as digital content they are produced. There are students on there from lots of different courses, and even if they're not studying on your specific course, they may be in the same faculty, or they can at least give you an idea of what's like to study at Manchester Met and be a student in the city of Manchester.

If you have any questions regarding your offer at Manchester Met, please feel free to contact the relevant Admissions team: Admissions contact details.

I hope this helps,
Mel 😊

Manchester is friendly and relaxed with great vibes. It is a city so there are different communities.
