Aerospace offers

Ive applied for Imperial, UO Bath, UO Nottingham, UO Bristol, and UO Birmingham for aerospace, i had confirmation that they received them on Monday, but have heard nothing since- has anyone not doing early applications heard back from them yet? i think bath waits until January before they start sending offers/rejections, but im unsure about the others
UPDATE 16/12/25
I GOT AN OFFER FROM UO NOTTINGHAM!!!

Hi there!

It's great to see you've applied to a course at Bath! It is completely normal to not hear anything this early due to the deadline for UCAS being in January. You are correct in terms of Bath and sending out there confirmations once they've received all the applications. I'm not too sure about the other universities but as its coming up to Christmas, they are most likely going to be closed for this festive period so you're going to be unlikely to hear anything back until after the New Year. So the best thing is to be patient and try not to think about it. I know it can be difficult but at least you've submitted your UCAS application ahead of the deadline!

Honestly the wait feels like the worst part but try not to stress about it and focus on doing well in your exams. 😊

I suppose its just paranoia! A friend heard back from Exeter the day after she sent her application and got an offer for environmental science, so i guess different courses have different consideration times?

It’s the end of autumn semester which means the academic staff will primarily focus on managing end of semester coursework & exams as well as getting ready for holidays so I wouldn’t expect to hear back until after January. You have to remember all the other activities staff have to manage outside of ucas activity.

Every university & every course, there are a whole host of reasons. It’s quite common for universities to actually have both centralized admissions teams and course specific admissions staff and different courses use either one approach or the other depending on requirements and competitiveness.

Hi, I applied around 2 weeks ago, and I just got my first offer from Bristol on the recent Wednesday for mechanical engineering. I'll say don't worry too much and hope you'll get all the offers!

Similar plane as you, I got offers from UoBristol, Birmingham and Southampton, waiting for Bath and Imperial (interview?). My application was in mid-December, so I would suggest having some patience. Good luck

When did you get the offer from UO Bristol? That’s the only one left for my son, he has offers from Nottingham, Sheffield, Birmingham and Liverpool. On hold for Bristol at the moment.

My son is still on hold. He’s predicted 3 x A* in Maths, Further maths and Chemistry plus already as an AS grade A in Biology. He got mostly 9’s in his GCSEs too. It’s frustrating having to wait so long to see if he is going to get an offer. He may actually choose Nottingham above Bristol as they’ve offered him AAA for MEng and he really likes the feel of the university. However he can’t firm anything until UOB decides to offer (or decline).

This is a perennial issue with Bristol they have many more very well qualified applicants than places particularly due the housing limitations preventing growing numbers inline with other institutions, I would try not to overthink it, it is only about one month since the application deadline shut and they have until May to respond.

Both Bristol and Nottingham are amazing universities and are both great places to be a student, from an academic and opportunities perspective they are very similar. For aerospace these two universities are both big feeders into British industry in large part due to their strong geographical and research ties in with Rolls-Royce aerospace (which has huge Derby & Bristol offices…).

Im fairly sure there is a way to withdraw your application on UCAS if you are set on Notts, however withdrawal is the only way to guarantee you won’t get a place. Personally as a Notts alumnus I have confidence you won’t regret Nottingham but I wouldn’t allow not hearing back by mid February to be the driver of the decision as I really respect both institutions although they each have slightly different personalities (but Nottinghams campus is the best in the country).
