Advice needed: Conditional offer due to IELTS, despite studying in the UK

Hello everyone,

I recently applied to Liverpool John moores university (LJMU) for the [MSc engineering 2026] master’s program. I completed my previous undergraduate degree in the UK, which I believe demonstrates my proficiency in English. However, I submitted an IELTS test with a score slightly below the required level, and as a result, I received a conditional offer.

I am wondering if anyone has faced a similar situation where their previous UK studies could have helped them receive an unconditional offer, despite the IELTS score. Has anyone successfully communicated this with the university, or received guidance from them in such cases?

Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!
I really want to study at LJMU again 😢😢 and I can’t take IELTS test again for private reasons 😭😭

Contact the Uni and explain that you have already 'studied in English' - its up to each Uni to make this decision, but its worth asking.
As above, it's up to the uni but is worth asking.

Two issues at play:

How long ago you complete your UG degree

Whether the uni considers the IELTS to supersede that study

The Uni told me that because I submitted new IELTS lower than the required score, they gave me conditional. The problem because I submitted IELTS

Your undergrad study will be too long ago for most unis to take into account. Your IELTS doesn't meet the requirements so you'll either need to take another, or a different accepted test. I'm sure LJMU admissions will confirm the same.
