Do I have any shot at Strathclyde University

It would be a dream to study BSc Computer Science at Strathclyde, however I'm not sure if i have any shot as the entry requirements are AABBB. I achieved BBCCC in my Highers (B: Computer Science and English) (C: Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics). I'm taking Advanced Higher Computing (Predicted A), Advanced Higher Maths (Predicted B), Higher Physical Education (Predicted A) and resitting Higher Physics (Predicted B). I also got AAAAAAAB in my National five's if that helps at all.

Hiya 🙂 The only way you wouldn't have a shot is to not apply at all. It can be quite competitive and varies year on year depending on the number of applications, but if you were to receive a conditional offer the offer would likely be for AAB this year. You don't have the required grade from your Higher Maths, so it's likely the admissions team would like you to achieve a B in that this year.

I can't say for certain whether we'd definitely make a conditional offer, but if we're your dream choice then it would make sense we're one of your choices! While you wait for offers to come in and decisions to be made it's important to work hard this year in your S6 so you have a good chance of working towards the requirements if you need to.

Wishing you loads of luck this year! Let me know when you do hear back 🤗

Hi, my son applied for CS and Software engineering at University of Strathclyde. Anyone knows if they started sending offers? His grades are AABBC at highers and now doing 3Adv and resitting Higher Physics.

you are very far from the entry requirements though your predicted grades are good (depending on school rapport this could mean a lot or very little). Taking AH maths while getting a C at higher is odd and it would have made more sense to do more Highers or even retake higher maths to build a stronger profile. You should check to see if you go to a target school or can receive any lowered requirements. It also depends on your ps and references. Since you have not met the mathematics minimum they would also require a higher grade.

My son applied 2 years ago with ABBBC in highers
A in computer science C in maths. He did AH maths physics and computer science in 6th year. He was rejected from Glasgow and Strathclyde. He received unconditional offers for Heriot watt and Aberdeen and a conditional from Dundee. He is now studying at Dundee and loves it. If you are contextual you may get a conditional offer but if you are non-contextual i woyld say it’s unlikely but it’s always worth a shot. X

Sorry no idea my son was non-contextual. It should tell you in the entry requirements.

if you are a widening access applicant then you defo have a chance
my friend got ABCCD in her highers (C in maths) and she got accepted into glasgow for mechanical engineering (offer BB in maths and physics)
if your postcode is in the deprived thing then you will be considered under the minimum requirements
