Christmas markets
There’s a small one in Kingston that’s nice to get a sweet treat and a hot chocolate and then there's some nice pubs nearby that you could go for a mulled wine. You could also head into London for the bigger ones like Leister squares market which has some nice food stalls that’s worth a visit if you're nearby. Southbank centre winter market has more of a range of wooden chalets, food crafts and gorgeous Christmas lights. Personally, I don’t recommend the famous Hyde park winter wonderland for students as it's very expensive and overhyped. You must pay an entry fee, and all the rides are very expensive with not great food. You’re better of having a nice time at smaller local ones with small businesses.
Walk around central London
My favourite thing to do for Christmas in London is to walk down Oxford road, Bond Street and Regent Street looking at all the crazy and cool window displays. It feels like you're in a classic English Christmas movie and the displays are like nothing you’ve ever seen before. The best ones are usually the high-end fashion ones like Cartier and Chanel. Pâtissiers do some amazing displays as well and even the department stores like John Lewis have impressive displays.
Go to some cute towns
Richmond is nearby and is lovely around Christmas time with cute decorations everywhere and cosy cafes. I recommend going for a winter walk in the park where you can even see some deer or along the river. Then head to Danieli café where you can get one of the thickest hot chocolates you’ve ever seen, it's practically a cup of melted chocolate.
