Veterinary Medicine unis 2026

Hi everyone, I applied back in october for Veterinary Medicine at The University of Edinburgh, University of Glasgow, UCLAN and SRUC. So far, the only thing I’ve heard back is a rejection from Edinburgh and an Ethical Reasoning Test from Glasgow which I’ve completed.

Should I be worried? People around me who are doing competitive courses like medicine have already received interview offers. To make matters worse, I have been considered an international student, But it would be three years of me living in Scotland when I start Uni.

Glasgow said that we would hear back by the 23rd of December after sitting the ethical reasoning test in the email we received - but some people have had interview invites before sitting the test according to posts on here - but those could be contextual or graduate entry perhaps 🤷*♀️. Daughter is a Scottish student and has had an interview for sruc and Edinburgh. But I know sruc are still doing interviews.

What is your status in the UK? Do you have ILR, settled or pre-settled status?

There is an applicant thread for vetmed that you might like to join:

Well, me and my family thought I was eligible for home rate fees. I had to fill out a questionnaire in which edinburgh considered me a home applicant and then I got immediately rejected. But turns out i’m an international applicant as it would only be 3 years next year august 😭

I’ve been considered an international applicant because i needed to be in the country for 3 years before 1st august 2026 but i came to the country on august 15th. That’s probably why i haven’t heard back from SRUC.

Hi @nnnxmiiii,

Thank you for your message and patience. It's great to hear that you have applied to study with us. Rest assured our admissions team will get back to you as soon as they have looked over your application. I'm aware of our admissions team focusing on January intakes recently which is something to keep in mind too. They have started sending some interviews but are doing so in batches so there will be plenty of options in the new year. I wouldn't worry too much but I also get it's easier said than done.

If you would like to speak to the admissions team, you can email them at [email protected] or [email protected] if you are UK applicant and you can call them on +44 (0)1772 892 400 (Option1 for UK applicants and option 2 for International). In your email, please make sure you include your:
- Full name
- Application number (this usually begins with a G)
- Date of birth
- Course name
- Email address

Many thanks,
^Zac

Unis determine fee status based on the UKCISA guidance. The following page might help you determine if you have grounds to appeal the fee status you have been given:
