Advice for how to revise English Lit OCR A-level

I've recently started in Year 12, and I'm doing English Literature at A-Level with OCR. Right now I'm doing Hamlet and The Handmaid's Tale, but we are supposed to be doing at about 5 hours of independent study a week, and right now I think it's the subject I'm struggling with the most as I don't know what to do. I don't know how I should be revising and I'd really appreciate any and all advice, whether it's websites/resources to use, or what has worked or is working for others. Any advice would be really appreciated

Hi @IzzyNeedsALife

I did not study English Literature, however some of my friends did. Some of the things that they did for independent study were:

Re-reading the text and making sure they had lots of annotations for it. Make sure you understand the plot, characters and themes.

Reading similar texts that they could compare it to.

Researching the context behind the text, for example learning more about the author and time when the text was written.

Preparing revision resources such as flashcards, mindmaps and essay plans. This allowed them to focus on answering practice questions closer to exams.

Hope this helps!
