Radiography uni rejection because of personal statement

I need advice, I got rejected for diagnostic radiography and it said the reason was because my personal statement was not adequate. However, I applied for the same course last year with the same statement(slightly tweaked this year) and was successful for the same uni.
My personal statement has lots of mention with radiography so I just don't understand how they could reject me for my personal statement and all my grades are fine as well. Should I phone admissions, like could it be a mistake?

It won't be a mistake with them rejecting you this year for radiography...... Perhaps you could ask them how you were successful a year ago with almost identical personal statement with tweaks and yet unsuccessful.

I wonder if it is because of you using the same personal statement as last year regardless of few tweaks that was the issue as you should have basically written a new personal statement instead of using the same one 😔 😔 😔 😔 only my opinion.

I was always told never present the same personal statement for any future applications just incase they look back on any previous applications and they see it was identical.

I'm not a diagnostic radiography but I work with the NHS as a registered midwife.

Email or phone the Uni and ask for more details about why they rejected you.

Something obviously happened between last year and this year as this is the second time round you are applying …did you not make your grades last year and are therefore applying with ( lower than previously predicted ) grades in hand for this year?

So you are reapplying to the same uni that you had accepted a place with last year and then withdrew? Or it was one of the 5 unis that you applied to originally ? The trouble with health courses is that they are often a. very competitive b. over subscribed and c. expensive to run …and they really don’t want people who aren’t going to be able to commit to and complete the whole course. So perhaps you may have needed to redo your personal statement to re-sell yourself ,to explain how this year will make your application more competitive and to have included any extenuating circumstances in your ucas info/ reference perhaps?

Hi,

I’d recommend contacting the admissions team directly. You could politely explain your situation and ask if they may clarify the reason for the decision. Even if it’s not a mistake, they may be able to give you some helpful feedback for future applications.

Hope this helps, wishing you all the best!

I’ve just been reading on ucas about the tools they use to screen personal statements for similarity to other statements….worth checking if you have had any emails from UCAs as their similarity tools might have flagged up a reused statement…..this shouldn’t happen if you are reusing your own personal statement but just in case , I thought I’d let u know , as I know it can be very upsetting to be rejected when you are not sure why. https://www.ucas.com/applying/applying-to-university/writing-your-personal-statement/fraud-and-similarity https://www.ucas.com/media/147176/download

Thank you thats really helpful. I think my next course of action will be to just phone admissions and I guess ask for advice and clarification. Bit disheartening to be honest I really did want to go to that uni but I guess I can't procrastinate on it
