Listen actively. Think. Answer. Be yourself. You are not being tested on knowledge but on reasoning skill, curiosity, and teachability.

Some people here, including people who have never been interviewed for a place at Oxford, may tell you to "think out loud". That is, I think, a somewhat unhelpful suggestion. Think, then answer. Do not be afraid to admit to a mistake.

The interviewers are not trying to trick or trap you. Rigour is not hostility. If you feel that the interviewers are pushing you hard, that may be a good thing. The interview is intended to be challenging.

Good luck!

I think “think out loud” can be useful advice if what it really means is “don’t just sit in silence then say “I don’t know” if you don’t know but talk through what is confusing you and how you are approaching the problem. What it doesn’t mean is “give a stream of consciousness”.

My main advice would be really listen to the questions you are asked and don’t over prepare or go in with points you have decided you need to bring up. If they ask challenging follow up questions then don’t panic, just engage the best you can and listen carefully to any tips they feed you if you get stuck.
