Will one bad GCSE matter?

I am applying to 5 unis for Politics and International Relations- ranging from AAA to BCC entry requirements. My predicted grade is A*AA.

However, two years ago at gcse I got a one in GCSE History. All other gcses are pretty solid.
Will this affect anything????

Tbh, GCSEs are relatively minor, if anything in uni applications, there *may* be some exceptions but I can’t think of any tbh.

A Levels are what matters effectively, however, I would check the uni course entry requirements you plan on applying for before taking my word for it!

EDIT:
With the exceptions of GCSE Maths and English.

Hello!

Universities tend to look at your A-level grades much more than your GCSE. Majority of Universities will only take your Maths and English GCSEs into account. For your course they will most likely look for English GCSE to be at least a grade 4, possibly 6. Competitive courses may consider several GCSE grades.

Coventry university entry requirements for Politics and International Relations ask that you have GCSE English Language or Literature grade 4. Although there are universities such as LSE (London School of Economics and Political Science) ask for several grades of 7 or above with at least a 6 in English GCSE.

For the universities you applied to you should be able to search for your course on their website and there will usually be an entry requirement section. In general it will work if you google Politics and International Relations _______ University and fill in the blank with each of the 5 that you applied to.

Hope this helps!

Hi, universities will most likely focus more on your A level grades and sometimes GCSE Maths and english grades which are specific grade requirements for certain courses
