Leeds or Durham?

I’m a bit stuck on which uni to choose for my firm - I’m mostly torn between Leeds and Durham. I’ve applied for Classical Civilisation, and Durham is really good for humanities but it’s around 4 hours away from me which is quite far. It also obviously has a really gorgeous campus, but Leeds does as well - and it’s only around 2 hours away. I’m not exactly attracted to Durham for its prestige, but how well it is for my subject. But I also really like Leeds since I’ve heard loads of good things about it. I’m very conflicted rn so any help would be greatly appreciated 😭😭😭

Academically speaking Durham and Leeds are very similar. Have you looked at the course modules to see which fascinates you more? If you can't decide or if both are equally appealing, Leeds may be a better option given its closeness to home, so your weekly home trip would be less tiring. Good luck.

As above, look at the course. Check the unit options for all years of each course and think about what you would choose if you went there. And are there any extras available at either Uni - placements, study abroad, units in other subjects etc etc. This is far more important than 'city' - and it doesnt matter how pretty the Uni buildings are if the course doesn't interest you, it'll be a miserable 3 years.

Don't make a decision yet. Hold both offers and let them ruminate.

I would suggest that you visit both unis (if you have not done so). Also consider the social life.

Well done.
