Exam season loneliness and helplessness

During exams i feel really lonely and angry. I find my self unable to study due to weird anxiety and there is no one to help me out and i have mentioned it a few times to my friends and no one really tried to help me out or maybe no one can actually help me out. But i feel so cut off and everyone is discussing the topics and all and studying and there i am unable to do anything which then makes me feel angry. Literally the days before my exam i cannot do anything at all neither study nor do anything else so i just scroll. But i feel really tired now. I had thought i would end this cycle this time but here it is repeating itself again.

Hi, first of all, I believe it's completely normal for you to experience certain emotions when your friends behave this way. I recommend replacing social media with fulfilling activities like watching your comfort show, cooking, or other things that bring you joy. This way, you're not punishing yourself for these feelings, and you'll also avoid irritation because engaging in enjoyable activities can be satisfying. Additionally, try journaling with interesting prompts to explore the root of this issue. I also suggest setting short study periods, such as studying for just 5 minutes before taking a break; often, starting makes it easier to continue and accomplish some work. Lastly, forgive yourself for these emotions and treat yourself with respect and love rather than anger or frustration, as negativity can reinforce the cycle of hate and procrastination. Hope this helps.

Hi,

I’m really sorry to hear you’re feeling this way. You’re definitely not alone, I can relate as a student. When everything feels overwhelming, I’d recommend starting with something small, like reviewing a few flashcards or setting a short timer. Taking breaks, going for short walks, hobbies, or doing something relaxing can also help. I find I procrastinate a lot as I know I don’t get enough done during study sessions, so I like using the Pomodoro Method to stay focused and manage my time. Trying different study methods, changing your environment, and motivating yourself with small rewards can also make a difference.

If you feel you need extra support, consider talking to your personal tutor, your university’s wellbeing service, or a professional who can help.

Wishing you all the best,

Thank you for asking. Exams have ended by now and new semester has started. Their is no exam stress anymore but I do feel quite overwhelmed this time at the very start of the semester and afraid that this semester would go terrible and I know this anxiety is going to cripple me and later when I'll look back I'll realize things were not that hard. But courses have gotten tougher and there are some problematic teachers this time, probably that's why I don't feel well and extremely overwhelmed.
