year 13 mocks

hi everyone, does anyone have any tips for year 13? iโ€™m gonna be honest i just have not tried at all in college. iโ€™ve struggled a lot mentally probably from around january year 12 which caused me to just not care about my studies at all. for some context, i revised for 2 weeks for my year 12 mocks and got a B in sociology, a D in philosophy+theology+ethics (i know where i went wrong in this one as it wasnโ€™t my knowledge it was my exam technique lol, as i revised the most for this one in those 2 weeks) and a D in history, which i was allowed to re-do one of the questions at a later time and got a C. i didnโ€™t revise at all for sociology except around an hour before my exam by just looking through booklets etc, and revised history for about 2 maybe 3 days. i really struggle with procrastination and randomly get motivation at night when im supposed to be going to sleep, and try to keep this motivation up for the next day but i just canโ€™t and i donโ€™t know why and then i feel so guilty for not revising but itโ€™s just a continuous cycle. my predicted grades are ABB because i have shown evidence of getting these grades throughout my time in college, and for the uni i want to go to i need BBB. i want to do well, and i really try and i know they are not comparable but i revised so much and had so much motivation for my gcses and i have no clue where it went. my year 13 mocks are at the end of january so i have 6 weeks to lock in. my plan is to utilise the christmas holidays as much as i can (within reason obvs like christmas eve and christmas day etc) and i have essentially no actual revision material because of things i explained earlier. is it possible for me to turn this around if i lock in? what methods of revision can i create/use that will actually be effective for the subjects i do? i struggle the most with history which is actually so funny because i got a 9 in gcses so is there any methods that i can use to make it click in my head the same way it did for me at gcse? also what revision materials should i create for myself this late in the game, as i know note taking wonโ€™t help. i do find mindmaps useful, but is it worth taking the time to make them for all of the topics in my subjects as they are extremely content heavy or is there other more effective methods?
thank you for your help!!

It really depends how you learn best but if short for time could make audio version of notes and listen to them whilst doing somkething you like - go for a run or walk etc. Or mind map cheet sheets, if using hand and more a visual learner. hink the thing is just to make a start and begin the process. You can definitely do this in 6 weeks with serious focus, but start now!

Hey @livrosee25,

If you find mind maps useful, definitely take the time to make them. Although some topics might be content heavy, the process of making the mind maps themselves (finding relevant information/writing it down) will help you memorise the material as well.

Make sure to look through past papers and see which questions commonly appear; although there's sometimes a lot of content to a topic, the questions asked within that topic may tend to be fairly similar year on year.

Best of luck with your revision,
Eve (Kingston Rep).
