Mocks vs Interviews

Hello! I missed my maths mock due to being at a Cambridge interview, however they have rescheduled it to the day before my UCL interview - would I be alright in asking for another extension as I know that I would seriously underperform in the mock as I am prioritising medicine interviews rn??

You can definitely ask — just be honest and explain that you’re prioritising interviews and wouldn’t perform fairly in the mock. Teachers are usually understanding with uni interviews, especially for medicine. Just don’t frame it as avoiding the mock, more that you want it to actually reflect your ability.

The value to you from the mock is low in comparison to the interviews you’ve got. Make it clear to the teachers what you need and why but if they can’t reasonably accommodate you then the interviews are the priority, by some distance.

My son had 3 oxford interviews in the middle of 2 weeks of mocks. The head of year 13 said the priority is the interviews, dont worry about mocks. They were all moved around the interviews. Good luck.

Why do you care if you underperformed in the mock?

I think the mock isn't that important as your predicted grades are already out. You could always do mocks at home so it's no big deal
