I believe it's more like you rank your preference of university accommodations but it will depend on the university. You say "per uni", but actually, you can only apply for accommodation at the university you have firmed. For more details, I would check the accommodation website for the university you intend on firming accommodation website to know when you should apply and get some preliminary details, although you should get even more details via email closer to the time accommodation booking opens.

I hope you are well! I would definitely recommend checking with the actual accommodation themselves and potentially contacting the uni you are hoping to attend. They will be able to provide you with the answers and therefore you will know exactly what you need to do!

The accommodation applications will open at a certain time. In my case it was around April in the same year that I started however it may be different in your case and as mentioned you will usually only be able to apply for accommodation if you have the uni as your firm choice!

You will receive more information via email, closer to the time so I wouldn't worry, you will be all the information you need to know on exactly how and when to apply for the accommodation!
