Hey! I'm a university application for 2026 and I've applied to Durham for politics and ir. Im predicted A*AA (A* geography) and the other two in politics and English literature. My GCSEs are 9887766665 and I am an athlete prospect for Durham (international athlete for England). What are my chances of getting an offer?

I’d say as good as any, if your ps is really good, then that’ll help as well

First of all I'm so happy to hear you've applied to Durham! I would say that your chances are as good as anyone's elses given you've met the conditions for the course! I would definitely recommend honing and improving your personal statement as well to make sure you really explore why you'd like to study Politics and IR to really seal the deal as well!

Good luck and whilst you're waiting for your decision, it might be worth looking into what it is like studying IR here to give you a better idea as to how studying here might be like!

I'd say depends on subject entry requirements/typical offer - if it's A*AA or below then your chances are prob gonna be good, you can probably find this on their official website - also depends on ps I think, try to be genuine about your passion for this subject. I'm early app and also applied to Durham; got the offer for English in late November. I'm predicted A*A*A* (history, French, Eng lit) btw. Good luck!

Good choices applying to Durham and Edinburgh! Your grades meet the conditions for the course - so you have just as good as a chance as everyone else. Durham offers can take a while to be released by admissions, so as you wait make sure to keep hitting your predicted grades and you can look into studying Politics & IR at Durham, these are good places to start:
