Psych Glasgow or Strathclyde uni

Hi, I’m an S6 student and I have unconditional 2026 offers for both Glasgow and Strathclyde universities. I’m really unsure as to which one would be the best for studying psychology. If anyone has any experience from the degrees or any advice I would really appreciate it. I’m hoping to continue my studies to become a psychologist in the future and I am interested in the clinical side especially working with young people.

Thanks!

Hey @optimal-twig 🙂 Big congrats on your offers!! That's so exciting 😄🥳

You've got lots of time to make the right decision for you, and two great options to pick from. Did you manage to visit the University open days? Which campus did you like more/could you see yourself at? If you managed to visit did you get to speak to academics or students to give you a flavour for what the courses are like?

You'll have lots of time still to make your final decision, and universities will usually hold offer holder days in the Spring time to invite you back to campus. That will give you another opportunity to see the campus and meet people and ask lots of questions. It's maybe worth having a think of which specific questions you think would be helpful to know the answers to if you have a chance to visit again. Think about everything you'd like to know about the course and its modules, as well as student life in general. If you can't visit - pop them in an email 🤗

If you study the single BA (Hons) Psychology route with us, this is a BPS accredited pathway which can lead to careers on the clinical side. We have a Masters course in Clinical Psychology which is popular too 🙂 With the BA Psychology course you also have the opportunity to take a work placement in Year 4 which will give you some opportunities to get some great experience in the field.

Hope this helps a bit but let me know if you've any other questions! I've also noticed one of our students on Unibuddy studies a joint honours in Psychology with English & Creative Writing so maybe you could drop them a message to speak with them about their studies?

Thank you very much for your reply!! Yeah I went to the Strathclyde open day and mini lecture for psychology. I did really like the look of it! The holder days sound really useful I didn’t know about them and that’s exciting about the work placement. I am also hoping to do the masters in clinical so good to know! Will definitely make sure to email with any questions!!
