Turnitin plagiarism

I accidentally uploaded my assignment to one section in turnitin I asked my teacher to remove it, and then I uploaded it in the correct section, but now it shows 96% plagiarism similarity.
Is this a serious thing? Will I be investigated? I'm so scared

Hi there! (:

Could very well be that its saying that because it already has a large proportion of your work on turntin beforehand, if you havent plagerised nothing to stress about!, if your referencing and all that sort of thing should be okay

not sure what you've used to write your assignment, but if your using word im pretty sure in the file info it says when you last edited, date created and a few other details, might also include times edited - overall though if you haven't plagiarised your all good😊

hope this helps reassure you a bit & it gets sorted (:

Hi, I was a former student and I am familiar with Turnitin. Also the situation your in is actually very common and it is not a serious problem given the fact that the increased similarity score is almost often causes by Turnitin which matches your second submission to the one you uploaded previously. Lecturers are able to clearly see that this match clearly comes from your earlier submission rather than the other one. Also it is good you already informed your teacher and asked for the incorrect submission that was uploaded to be taken down and this displays good honesty and great academic practice . You do not have to worry because the first submission does not lead to any sort of investigation. I hope this helped!

Thank you for your help. I’m currently in my first year of BTEC Level 3 Engineering. The issue is that I accidentally uploaded my assignment to the section for another module with a different teacher, and it was then removed. When I submitted it to the correct module and teacher, it showed 96% similarity. It has even flagged my name. In this assignment, I used my own values that only I have to solve the questions. I’ve already explained this to my teacher, but I haven’t received a reply yet. Are teachers able to see the older submission? On turnitin it mention that the assignment was submitted in my institution

Hi, turnitin in is designed to detect similarity, which is further investigated. I would encourage informing your tutor/lecturer immediately, keep evidence if further questions are asked.
