PPE offers chances with strong A-levels but low GCSEs?

I’m applying for PPE/Economics at Warwick, KCL, Manchester, and York. I have A* economics, A* law, A politics predictions, strong supercurriculars. But I have ABBBCCCCDEF at GCSE (A in maths, B in English language, but free school meals in KS3 and 4. Has anyone with a profile like this got offers from these unis? What worked for you?

Hi @SJ-27

It's great to hear that you're applying to York! 🎉

Our A level entry requirements for our BA PPE course are AAB, plus Grade 7 (A) in Maths so you're well on track to meet the requirements of our typical offer there. Our BSc Economics course asks for AAB as well, and A level Maths is preferred but not essential, your A at GCSE Maths would be enough for you to meet the requirements for the course.

All in all, I think you stand a good chance of receiving an offer from us for either BA PPE or BSc Economics, given your amazing predicted grades, strong GCSE Maths result and extracurriculars. You might also be eligible for a Contextual Offer from us, which means you might get an offer of up to two grades below our standard offer.

I hope this helps, and best of luck with your UCAS application 😀
Hannah 😊
