Does Oxford read your personal statement?

Hi, I'm in year 12 and am going to apply for PPE at Oxford next year. Obviously I'll work really hard on my personal statement because of the other unis I'm applying to. But, I was wondering how much Oxford cares about them in comparison to other information, e.g. the TSA.

The LSE places much more emphasis on the UCAS Personal Statement than Oxford.

In the summer, I had the opportunity to speak to an economics tutor at Oxford, he's involved in the admissions process as well. He said that Oxford does not really care about the personal statement too much at all, they care about other things much more.

I don’t think they care that much about personal statements but more about entry exam results and grades

Yes. In fact they not only read it, but they can ask you questions about the topics you've written on in your personal statement. That said, I don't believe it's formally scored or anything for most courses.

Everything said here is just ********. The personal statement is very important once you reach the interview stage, and therefore also for offers. It's not really used very much for shortlisting (the biggest hurdle for Oxford, for most courses), however.

The tutors quoted something from my PS in my third interview.
