Psychology work experience age 15 – ideas?

My 15 year old is interested in psychology and we'd love them to get some work experience, but most places seem to need students to be 16 or older. Has anyone managed to arrange something before sixth form or found other ways to get insight in psychology for younger teens? Any advice would be very welcome! 😊

Hi there,

One option is virtual work experience programmes, such as those offered by Springpod. Here are some courses that might be of interest:

It’s also worth exploring MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), which are free and self-paced. Some examples are:

Mine did spring pod virtual work experience then did in person work experience with children…basically anything that involves observing people can be viewed as helpful for psychology!

Hello @Pegbujie,

That’s great to hear you are both looking at work experience opportunities!
It can be hard to get in-person experience directly related to psychology, but anything that involves interacting with people can be applied to psychology. This could be especially valuable if your 15 year old has already learnt some psychological theories which can be applied to the work experience.

One idea for you is to contact some local primary schools to ask whether work experience will be possible here if that is something they would be interested in.

If this doesn’t work out, there are lots of online psychology courses like the ones LJMU mentioned above!

Hope this helped and let me know if you have any more questions
