Our 2025 Highlights

As we approach the end of the year, we wanted to share a few highlights from our 2025.
It’s been a huge year for our students across our campuses 👇

January:
We launched the first virtual UK university campus in the video game Fortnite. StaffsVerse, built by games students in Unreal Engine, is a Fortnite island where people can explore our three campuses and complete mini-challenges.

February:
We unveiled a new vodcast series to celebrate Stoke-on-Trent’s centenary. The episodes spotlight the inspiring individuals, rich heritage and vibrant culture that’s helped to shape the city.

March:
BA (Hons) Fine Art students hosted a free public art trail in Hanley Park. The one-day event showcased installations, interactive workshops and community activities.

April:
Diversity champion Aurelia Brzezowska was named ‘Young STEAM Personality of the Year’ at the Inspirational Youth Awards. The BSc (Hons) Computer Science student has been a trailblazer in promoting science, technology, engineering and maths careers to females.

May:
Hundreds of students exhibited their final-year projects at our GradEX Degree Show. The talented students from a variety of courses showcased their work to employers, industry leaders and the public. The event also heralded the start of our summer graduation celebrations.

June:
Engineering students unveiled the racing car they designed and built for the Formula Student 2025 competition. Several local businesses sponsored the students, who went on to race at Silverstone against teams from universities around the world.

July:
Student designers turned heads at Graduate Fashion Week with their stunning collections. BA (Hons) Fashion student Bogdan Dobas won the Collective Catwalk Show category with his streetwear designs inspired by graffiti.

August:
We celebrated a key milestone for our Student Village, which is due to open in 2026 and will include accommodation for more than 700 students. The ‘topping out’ ceremony marked reaching the highest point in construction of the Village Hub.

September:
BA (Hons) Automotive and Transport Design student James Horrocks sailed into second place in the 2025 Superyacht UK Young Designer contest. His futuristic concept earned him a week-long internship with superyacht designer Olesinski.

October:
We launched the EDGE Online Skills Awards to help students gain a competitive edge for their careers. They can take short courses endorsed by employers from a range of sectors, which cover workplace skills such as communication, teamwork and problem-solving.

November:
We clinched the Best Educational Institution title at the TIGA Games Industry Awards for the second year in a row. It came hot on the heels of being named No. 1 in the UK for game design and development in the Rookies global rankings.

December:
Law students pitted their wits against teams from across the world in a new international legal competition. It was organised by University of Staffordshire in partnership with REVA University in Bangalore, India.
