Chem Eng at Notts vs Birmingham

I'm struggling to decide between Nottingham and Birmingham for chemical engineering. I want to pick the course with more math modules, and by looking at them explicitly, Nottingham lists more math modules.

Can someone please confirm whether this is really the case? Is it true that you can also take cross-department electives-like classes that aren't for your degree as extra-if given permission? Also if you have experience at any of these unis for this course please let me know, thank you!

The degrees will cover a fairly similar amount of maths, and maths specific modules only make up a small proportion of the degree anyway. Birmingham doesn't seem to list any maths specific modules so I'd expect the maths to be interweaved with the other, engineering specific modules in that case.
