UCAS Application submission deadline

I have question about the ucas application, can I send my ucas application 6 days before the deadline because I am really anxious about it and I’m still working on my personal statement ( it’s nearly finished I’m checking with a teacher to see if it makes sense ).

January 14th

When you press Pay and Send it actually just sends your application to your school/college for them to add their reference and any predicted grades. - and then they send your completed application to UCAS.

So - you need to talk to your school/college about when their deadline is in order to be able to turn it around in time. Leaving this until a week before the deadline is very risky and I really would advise you to get this done much earlier.

Hi @Lardball

It's completely normal to be nervous about your application, but remember, they are not looking for perfection! The most important thing is showing your passion for the subject.

You can send it 6 days before the deadline, but you must communicate this with your school first. Once you send it, it has to get checked and you may find lots of application will be sent for review from your school at this time, so there may be a delay in receiving any feedback if necessary.

I would recommend communicating with your teachers as soon as possible about this and getting your application in a ready-to-submit state. I know many people who submitted there application in January, but they maintained a line of communication with their teachers as it can be risky if not.

I hope this helps, please feel free to ask me any questions,

Hi there,

Yes, you can submit your UCAS application up until the published deadline, and sending it 6 days before the deadline is absolutely fine.

We would encourage you to take the time you need to ensure your personal statement is the best it can be, especially if you’re getting feedback from a teacher. Submitting a few days before the deadline will not disadvantage your application in any way, as long as it is submitted before the deadline and all sections are complete.

If you’re feeling anxious, it can sometimes help to aim for an earlier personal “deadline” once your final checks are done, but please be reassured that many applicants submit close to the UCAS deadline and are still considered equally.

Best of luck with completing your application.

To repeat, you need to check with your school/ref as you are basically leaving it in their hands as to whether the actual application is submitted on time or not. It's not as simple as clicking submit on your part.

Hi. Yes, you can absolutely submit your UCAS application 6 days before your deadline. As long as your application is submitted before the official deadline, universities consider it equally so there's no disadvantage at all. It's great that you're nearly finished and checking you personal statement with a teacher, because taking that extra time shows care rather than rushing.

As explained in the reply you quoted, when you click submit your application doesn’t go to UCAS and then your uni choices straight away. It is directed to either your referee or school for them to complete their part. If there is any delay with them, your application could inadvertently be submitted after the deadline. Therefore you need to communicate with them about when you are planning to complete your app, so that they can acknowledge whether that will give them enough time before the deadline.

Just an FYI before you repeat this guidance elsewhere:

HI!

AS long as your referee/school know about it and have agreed on it then it will be fine.

Hey there,

You absolutely can submit your UCAS application six days before the deadline. As long as your application is submitted before the official UCAS deadline, it will be treated equally alongside all other on-time applications. Submitting a few days early is often a good idea, as it gives you peace of mind and avoids any last-minute technical issues.

It is also very sensible that you are taking the time to check your personal statement with a teacher. Making sure it clearly reflects your motivations and makes sense to someone else can really strengthen your application. UCAS does not penalise you for using the full time available, so you should submit when you feel confident that everything is accurate and complete.

I hope that helps!
