Does anyone know what percentage most successful people get? I have a feeling it's over 80% unless you're at Oxford or maybe imperial/warwick but I'm wondering what the average successful person gets.

I got 88% 1st year 85% 2nd year in physics BSc at Nottingham, without lab work it would be 90% 1st year 86% 2nd year. I haven't applied just yet.

idk if it's as black and white as this, more people do tend to get in at those unis but that's usually a consequence since they do more advanced modules that prepare them more for part iii modules. iirc they will care more about the modules you do as well and judge how well they prepare you

Sorry I might have been unclear, I know they accept people from all sorts of places but I'm curious regarding the average grades people have. E.g. A 70% first from cambridge is enough but you're never getting in with a 70% 1st from leeds or nottingham without extenuating circumstances

my personal tutor told me to stand a good chance u should be in the 90s and that was from Leeds, so I assume it would be the same for other mid tier rgs like manchester nottingham etc

I guess the University has opened after the Christmas holidays. Anyone get any updates on their application status?

Reply 18

i have sent the requests to my referees yesterday, and they haven't received it, and i didn't get the email i was expecting which contains "you request have been sent"
today i tried to remove on referee and re-insert their info.. i don't know if they got it or not, and still i didn't get an email from Cambridge informing me that it was successfully sent.
horrible experience
i think this was could be due to the internet outage yesterday

Anyone got any idea when the earliest time we could hear decisions on applications. End of jan?
