Ravensbourne, Regents and UAL students - Advertising

My first choice Uni is Ravensbourne, but I'd like to know a bit about it. I've applied to advertising and brand design, graphic design and digital media. Could anyone from any of those courses tell me what it's like and if you think its been worth it so far? I have also applied to UAL and Regents (Both for advertising). If anyone is doing courses from any of those schools, please tell me if they are good and what opportunities you've had and what the teachers/lessons are like and what the practical/paperwork ratio is like etc... Thank you, I'd really appreciate it!

Digital Media is more marketing whereas Digital Film Production at Ravensbourne is more content making focused. Both are very practical and have very good reputation and really great equipment.

Hi! I’m currently a UAL student representative, and I can share some information about UAL’s advertising course.

At UAL, the communication and graphic design courses focuses mainly on projects industry focused projects. You’ll work on live or simulated briefs, collaborate on campaigns in teams and develop skills in art direction, copywriting, strategy and digital/media campaigns. Each year includes written assignments, like research, essays, and strategy rationales, but the focus is mainly on practical creative projects and portfolio pieces that you can present to agencies later.

You can check out the subject page: https://www.arts.ac.uk/subjects/communication-and-graphic-design if you're interested in UAL's graphic design, advertising or digital media options. It lists a huge variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses across colleges like Camberwell, CSM, Chelsea, and LCC along with information on facilities, student work and stories from graduates working in branding, art direction, and more.

Teaching usually combines studio or workshop time, lectures, seminars, and critiques, where you present your work and receive feedback from tutors and sometimes industry guests.

UAL offers many opportunities through connections with agencies and brands. You’ll be able to engage with live briefs, participate it guest talks, internships and the UAL Showcase platform, where graduates can display their work to industry professionals. You may visit the showcase here from this link: https://ualshowcase.arts.ac.uk

There are also creative opportunities to help your job search journey, you may find more information here: https://www.arts.ac.uk/students/student-careers/find-creative-jobs-and-internships

If you have any questions about UAL life, the teaching style, or the application process for Advertising, please don’t hesitate to get in touch, I’m happy to help with insights from the UAL perspective.

Best wishes,
Faye
