Changing course at LSE

I've applied to LSE econ but only have a 3.9 tmua, so basically the chances seem atom sized, is there a point changing my course to Econ & Econ history but I do have quite a bit of maths in my personal statement?

LSE care a lot about your personal statement, so if anything, you should change it to a Maths-based course.

The biggest question is, are you even interested in economic history? The course matters more than the university because if you don't fully enjoy the course how will you have the motivation, especially at such a tough university? People often forget this, choosing the name of a university for prestige etc over what they enjoy and are good at. If you genuinely love economics why would you be changing course?

Also LSE will be aware that you changed course and will become sceptical whether you care for either subject or just their name. They want people passionate about the subject so not sure switching will increase your chances of an offer from the university either way.

If you genuinely enjoy the other subject more than the one you've currently applied to you should probably switch. However, considering how heavily they weight the personal statement it's still risky because your personal statement obviously won't be tailored to the new course.
