Cambridge - Land Economy

Hey, I am in yr 12 and want to know if it’s worth applying for Cambridge

GCSEs: 998888766
( I may be able to say that I was a young career but I struggled to ask for help at the time but it was heavily suggested by a head of pastoral that I was indeed one and should look for help regarding it)
I went to a average achieving school

A-level predicted: Politics A*, Economics A, Geography A*, and maths a-level I hope to drop

I am going/have to enter essay comps, I tutor maths, currently doing debate competition, a part of model House of Commons, reading books/listen to podcasts, hope to gain work experience in geography and politics,

I would like some advice regarding it. And also what super curriculums to do

hey id say its worth applying however i would say its a slim ish chance as thats one of the most competitive courses so most people will have straight 9s and 4A*s. i do a very similar course at LSE though where the same people applied to mine who also applied to land economy, meanwhile i had similar A level grades to you- which is why i say never say never and you may aswell apply as you never know what might happen. id be careful about dropping maths though as econ modules at uni are super maths heavy.

I don't see any reason not to apply. A-level Maths would probably be useful for the course though, albeit I don't believe it's particularly preferred for admissions purposes (this may have changed in the last few years though as I believe it's become a lot more popular).

Hey yeh I had 9999988877 and an A in additional maths (top grade) and I also did a finance qualification that’s the same level as a gcse. Overall I think LSE was perfect for me as I thrive under pressure and love to challenge myself. If you’re not coming from an academically intense environment before u might find it a bit of a culture shock but usually people adjust. If you’re interested in a top corporate career it’s definitely the place to be as it’s unmatched in terms of career destinations. Only thing I will say is it’s probs not the uni for u if ur hoping to go out loads and have that type of uni experience- people still go out and stuff but not to the extent of other unis. This wasn’t a big deal to me as I don’t drink and prefer to do more wholesome activities but it’s definitely something to consider.

Thank you so much, I have move to a more academic sixth form which I hasn’t been an adjustment but I have enjoyed environment. Do you believe that my gcse are even high enough? I am not really looking to go out to much at uni so I do think lse seems to line well. Thank you so much for all your help and sorry for the questions

Can you give book recs or anything else that might be useful to me? Any courses or stuff I should do? I've seen people have insane work experiences but idh that chance so I'd just have to make up w my grades, ps, and tmua as I'd do it for cambridge
