Medical Degree Apprenticeship

I’m a Year 12 student interested in applying for the Medical Degree Apprenticeship with the NHS and the Human Physiology course at UWE Bristol but I am bit confused about how the apprenticeship employment part works:

1. Do I need to secure the employment (the NHS apprenticeship job) before I start the course or is it something that happens after A-levels?
2. How do I make sure I’m the best possible applicant for this pathway?
